It's the recap episode! Chef Jonathan Frazier and Darren Howlett look back and discuss the highlights in the Comox Valley food scene for last month. They get into Dine Around, Springtoberfest, and reflect on their effectiveness and how well they were received. After touching in on current events, they look ahead to the month in front of us, touching on what we can expect over the next little while - mostly fact, with a little bit of the rumour mill. Give a listen and let us know what you think!

Today we have a special treat. Chef Ronald St. Pierre of Locals Restaurant sits down with us to discuss his illustrious and distinguished career as a Chef in the Comox Valley. Ronald takes us from his humble beginnings in rural Quebec to his star studded fame as local Chef and business owner. Give a listen, as he touches on the progression of cuisine and dining from the seventies through to now. He also gives great measure to how important it is to shop and eat local. We couldn't agree more, Ronald! On tonight's episode, Chef Jon and Darren got to sit down with Darren of the Cumberland Brewing Company (already affectionately referred to as the CBC). All I can say is 'Wow'. We really love the way they are moving here. It can be quite difficult these days to open up a new venue or restaurant and be unique enough to really stand out. But the CBC has done just that. In very imaginative ways, they have redefined what it means to be a neighborhood pub; by fully embracing the 'neighborhood' part! Cumberland is the perfect place to open such a community based pub, and we foresee nothing but success for them. Take a listen as Darren explains it all, it's impossible to not get swept up in it all! 2732 Dunsmuir AveCumberland, British ColumbiaPhone: 250-400-2739 (BREW)Open : 12:00pm - 8:00pm

Tonight is a very special episode of the Edible Valley Podcast. As you may know, Chef Jonathan and Darren both work at the Atlas Cafe and although this podcast is not affiliated with Atlas, Trent and Sandra have given us endless support for what we do. Tonight, we've brought them into the studio to discuss everything, including Atlas's 20th anniversary which is right around the corner - April 24th! We dig back into the past and find out the secret history and origins of one of Courtenay's longest running restaurants, and touch on some of the hurdles that can be found along the way to running a successful restaurant. Today, we got to sit down with Layne and Brenda of 40 Knots Winery. We had a wonderful time discussing not just their wine making, but what lead them down the road to wine making as a career. But beyond that, we talked about their impressive community involvement - the 40 knots social calendar is downright exhausting! And as you know, we love getting a chance to speak with community minded businesses!
